I’m interested in being a school psycologist, but no websites give me a good enough description of what is nessacary. Masters? Doctorate?

I think a bachelors for most places is enough but a masters is preferred, especially for a private school.

Well, first of all, you might want to learn how to spell it correctly. It is psycHologist.

Next, North Carolina State University has an excellent school psychology program. You can read about it here:

Plan on getting the Ph.D.

First you get a BA, that’s four years. For school psychology, you’ll need a Master’s, which could be one or two years more, depending on the grad school. Then you can work while you’re working on your doctorate, if you really want one.

Some universities have what might be called a “3/2 program”, which means that you go continuously for five years, and when you’re done you have both your BA and your Master’s. Or, in some cases you can shorten the overall time by taking a heavy load and going through the summers and get your BA quicker.

Some school systems may hire BA’s, but most are going to want a Master’s. Some, but by no means all, want that PhD.
