I think a bachelors for most places is enough but a masters is preferred, especially for a private school.

First you get a BA, that’s four years. For school psychology, you’ll need a Master’s, which could be one or two years more, depending on the grad school. Then you can work while you’re working on your doctorate, if you really want one.
Some universities have what might be called a “3/2 program”, which means that you go continuously for five years, and when you’re done you have both your BA and your Master’s. Or, in some cases you can shorten the overall time by taking a heavy load and going through the summers and get your BA quicker.
Some school systems may hire BA’s, but most are going to want a Master’s. Some, but by no means all, want that PhD.
