I can say that, yes, I feel I’ve come out ahead of my counterparts.
I attended private school from 6th to graduation from college, and I’ve had opportunities to interact with public students on multiple occasions.
I competed in speech on the high school level, and the margin of winners from the private schools was higher than that of the public schools (by a wide margin).
No, I hated private school. I moved to a public school after 3 different private schools because I hated the way that lessons were often taken over by a ‘my daddy has a newer Bentley than yours’…seriously, most of the stereotypes about private schools are true and I don’t have time for that crap. And the lessons were engineered to make the parents of even the thickest kids feel that they were smart…so I was always bored out of my mind. School shouldn’t be about buttering up parents and improving the circles they mix in…it should be about educating the child. I moved to one of the top mixed grammar schools in England and love it. I get far better results than at the private school.
I do think I have fared better than my public school friends. I attended private school in all levels.
Private high school is great! I feel I got an amazing education and I loved it. I only went for high school, but going for grade school would have helped. I went to a private college for a couple years. Waste of time! Too expensive. Now i’m in a state college and it’s sooo much cheaper and the same education!
